The Nene Park in Peterborough – with Ferry Meadows as the focal point – occupies some 500 acres of meadows, lakes and woods for around six miles alongside the River Nene, offering cycling, walking, kite-flying, pony riding, nature-spotting and fishing.
There are substantial facilities for various water sports here on the River Nene and its associated ponds and lakes – including water-skiing, rowing, dinghy and board sailing.
The Nene Valley Steam Railway running from Yarwell Junction to Peterborough – and the current home to children’s’ favourite tank engine Thomas – runs through Castor and has a station stop at Ferry Meadows.
